Dance Team Uniforms Can Enhance That Winning Feeling

March 31, 2007 by sachinskg

Being part of a dance troupe is much the same as playing in a sports team. Your individuality is presented through a group performance, you depend on your colleagues for support and you all wear the same dance team uniforms.

Just like a sports team’s uniform, your dance clothes should have the same colors and design as your teammates’ so that the audience can recognize your group as being part of a single team.

Dance teams can take various forms, the most common being cheerleading squads who compete against each other in serious competitions. For cheerleaders, their dance team uniforms are deliberately bold and bright to reflect the nature of the competition, the difficult moves, stunts performed and the fast-paced music.

In fact, cheerleading uniforms are as close to sports attire as you will ever get in any form of competitive dancing. The main difference is that men and women play on the same team, though performing different roles.

Dance team uniforms may differ slight for the genders with women often wearing lighter shirts than the men and, of course, donning skirts instead of pants.

As expected, choosing your dance team uniform must be a group effort. You may appoint a fashion-minded member of your team to take charge of selection or your non-dancing coach or coordinator may be the one to decide.

Whoever it is, their task is to create a uniform design that unites the dancers as a team and shows off some winning colors. Your dance team uniforms must satisfy a number of requirements in that they must be durable and comfortable to wear, they must allow the dancers to perform their full repertoire of moves and they should suit the type of choreography and music that the team will dance to.

You may have to look around various malls and specialist dance apparel stores to find the right supplier. Sports shops may also be an option, and, in addition, you might want to check out the Internet for online dance stores.

Be wary that your rivals will also be doing the same thing, so it may be wise to start the creative process early so you can remain one step ahead of the competition. After all, the more striking your uniform, the more chance you have of making a positive impact on the audience and the judges.

With a lot at stake, making the right choice with your dance team uniforms may be the difference between winning and losing.
