Dance Outfits - Preparing For The Big Day

March 27, 2007 by sachinskg

Dance outfits need to be prepared well in advance to ensure they fulfill their task of enhancing your performance or routine.

An ideal dance outfit is comfortable, flexible and sturdy and gives you the confidence to perform your movements freely without having to worry about damage or visual flaws.

It may be a good idea to consult an expert, a tailor or designer in order to produce a dance outfit best suited to your needs.

Costume brochures and catalogs can also be helpful in guiding you to the perfect dance outfit. If you are part of a dance company, in-house tailors may be available to cater for the different needs of each dancer as well as for each performance.

When measuring up for your initial fit, it may be a good idea to wear body-hugging underwear so that the tailor or designer may make adjustments to the dance outfit to suit your shape.

They may also take into account the nuances a dance outfit may take when worn over underwear compared to bear skin so that ugly protrusions or outlines can be hidden from the audience’s view.

Once the alterations and adjustments have been completed, the next obvious step is to try out the dance outfit and use it in practice to iron out any remaining flaws.

Keep an eye out for broken stitches or ungainly bumps and tears. Most importantly, make sure the dance outfit fits you as intended and is in tip-top condition for the big night, because that when’s everything has to be perfect.

You are allowed one final check during final preparations for the dance but, by this time, if you had followed your tailor’s guidelines in the run-up to the performance, there should not be any problems.

If there is, it should be minor enough to execute immediate repairs. In the end, you should have a faultless dance outfit that will last you many performances to come.

Remember, the audience will not only be watching you, but your dance outfit, so give them something to appreciate and talk about through your great dancing and your wonderful outfit.
