Dance Clothing - Enhance Your Moves With The Right Attire

March 25, 2007 by sachinskg

Once you are on the dance floor, your clothes will be performing as much as you are. Therefore, you need to be extra careful when choosing your costume for the next big dance.

Your attire is, in essence, on the front lines when it comes to your audience’s viewpoint. Your clothes will follow your every movement and, therefore, your grace, fluidity, emotions and style must ooze from your clothes, as well as your dancing skills.

Dancers need clothes that are durable, robust yet supple and elegant. They must endure the rigors of repetition during your fast-paced routine yet flow around your body with style and poise. They must also be daring in colors and design so that they highlight your moves rather than conceal them.

Most importantly, your clothes must be comfortable so that you are not inhibited when it comes to performing the most complex moves.

When choosing your dance clothes, picture your routine in your mind and select accordingly. You want clothes that boost your performance and bring out your emotions so that you can make an impact on your audience.

You should also choose wisely because the clothes have to match the type of dance. Ballroom dancing requires a different attire to disco dancing, for instance.

Even within ballroom dancing, you can choose from various themes, such as Latin, Tango and Salsa. Women usually wear body-hugging outfits with extensions that flow around the fringes as she spins, twists and is swept across the dance floor

The men could wear anything from dance-friendly tuxedos to tight slacks and tunic. Both partners may also stud their costumes with sequins and colorful gems that flash and sparkle under the neon lights as they go through their paces.

Apart from the fabric part of their costumes, the dancers need to think carefully about the shoes they wear. The shoes take more punishment than any other piece of attire, therefore, special dancing shoes must be used that allow them to look great but still perform difficult moves.

Men usually wear black leather shoes with flexible top and sturdy heels that grip the floor and stop them from slipping as they take the lead in the dance.

Women prefer high-heeled shoes that are strong enough to pivot on so they can confidently spin, twirl and turn without missing step, or worse, snap a heel.

Dancing clothes are designed to make you stand out as you perform your well-practiced moves. They are made to be looked at, so be sure you choose clothes that are strong enough to withstand your routine but stylish enough to make you look fantastic.
